Interview With Nick Pike

In a recent interview on Remote Patrolled, Nick Pike opens up about his America’s Got Talent experience. He discusses the three acts he was able to perform, his minor feud with judge Piers Morgan, and his post-AGT plans.

When asked if he would have done anything differently, Nick says:

I have no regrets. I achieved what I set out to do – and then some. I had a lot of fun performing and meeting all the other contestants on the show.  I would love to thank all of my supporters and fans out there, and challenge any of my critics to get out of their arm chair audition for the show, make it to the top 48, and then get back to me!!

A Juggling Muppet on Sesame Street

We were recently clued in to this piece of Sesame Street gold from ToughPigs.com,  a website “for Muppet fans who grew up.”

It seems that Dexter only appeared on the childrens’ show twice, but we were impressed with the skill that must have gone in to creating a Muppet that can carry on a conversation and juggle.

We wonder how far Dexter would make it on America’s Got Talent. (Still feeling for you Nick Pike!)

Nick Pike Receives Second Chance on America’s Got Talent

Apparently America’s Got Talent wasn’t done with Nick Pike after all!

The cruise ship juggler–who suffered the fate of nearly all jugglers on the popular talent competition last week–was invited back to join the top 48 line-up in Hollywood last night.

Nick received this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity when the sword swallowing act of Twisted Trystan and Krystan withdrew from the competition.

Here’s his performance from last night:

That’s right, even though they brought him back, the judges gave Nick nothing but grief. Luckily the judges no longer decide who moves forward. Nick Pike’s fate is now in the hands of the American public.

Jugglers Ousted Again on America’s Got Talent

We should have seen it coming.

Last week, the few jugglers that got through to Las Vegas on America’s Got Talent were quickly sent packing.

In what seems like an endless supply of rejection, the jugglers were once again dismissed from the summer talent show, despite demonstrating skill far beyond many who were put through to Hollywood.

Those of us in the Juggling Subculture are once again left scratching our heads, wondering if any jugglers will ever be given a the chance to present their talents to the American public.

Here’s Nick Pike’s Vegas performance:

Baby Juggling in Megamind Trailer

Just like millions of 4th of July weekend moviegoers, we cried our way through Toy Story 3 this weekend. (How does Pixar do it every time?!?!)

It was an extra bonus to see some baby juggling during the trailer for Megamind.

We doubt Dube will be coming out with a line of stage babies any time soon, and we don’t recommend trying this with the real thing unless, of course. you happen to have superpowers!

Two New Juggling Films

A couple of new films have recently popped up in the juggling subculture.

Olga Kay just released Olga Kay’s Circus. This beautifully filmed short bills itself as “YouTube’s first interactive circus,” letting you chose your own adventure towards the end.

Click here to read a review of the film.

Here’s the trailer:

Also, Michael Karas recently released his film Spark.

He describes it as “a combination of traditional toss juggling and innovative non-traditional kinetic-based art.”

Here’s the trailer for Spark:

Charlie McDonnell Accepts a Juggling Challenge

Charlie McDonnell is the most subscribed YouTuber in the United Kingdom. According to the about page on his video blog, he has “amassed over 40 million total video views.”

Earlier this month Charlie answered a challenge to learn how to juggle.

Notice at the beginning Charlie refers to juggling as a useless skill. Then, by day 8, he’s calling for a YouTube juggling revolution.

We think that’s an awesome progression.

We’ll definitely throw our full support behind any other video bloggers that want to dazzle their audiences by taking a step into the juggling subculture.

Dubé Steps Up Digital Game

Dubé has recently stepped it up in the internet department . . . and we love it!

A few juggling equipment companies have started a blog or posted some videos, but Dubé has decided to attack the internet on all fronts. Last week the great people at Dubé sent out an email officially introducing the world to their new Facebook page, YouTube channel, blog, and Twitter feed.

Since juggling is such a collaborative art form, it makes sense that juggling and the internet would go together. We’re proud of Dubé for committing to meet jugglers in all of these social media platforms.

Dubé has been supplying jugglers with equipment and training materials since the mid ’70’s and have always seemed to stay at the forefront of innovation, quality, and professionalism. This big step into the Web 2.0 world continues that legacy of leadership we have come to expect from them.

Here’s a video recently posted on the Dubé YouTube channel. It’s an introduction to the world of cigar box manipulation.

The Jugglers’ Lounge–A New Juggling Blog

We always get excited about someone starting a juggling blog. The world just needs more!

This one is called The Jugglers’ Lounge.

Steve Langley, the creator of the blog, writes:

I used to love the column in Juggler’s World magazine where they listed where jugglers would be performing . I was able to catch a lot of great juggling acts because of that column. This is an attempt to re-create that online. I want this to be a place where you can come to see who is performing where.

Not only will this be an entertaining read, but also a great hub of information on where to see great jugglers do their thing.
