Patrick Dempsey-”Sexiest Juggler Alive”

Before he was a star on the small screen or the big screen, Patrick Dempsey was a juggler. And apparently he’s pretty good. At the age of 15, Dempsey won 2nd place–losing only to Anthony Gatto–at an IJA competition in Cleveland.

Dempsey talks about his run as a competing juggler in a recent Newsweek article that declares him the “sexiest juggler alive.” The article also mentions that Dempsey’s juggling skills will make a cameo in his new movie Made of Honor.

Here’s an 18-year-old Dempsey juggling in a 1984 music video called “Overnight Success”:

“Bring Me Something New!”

I recently found this video by Wes Peden on the I Can’t Stop Juggling blog. Wes is a very skilled and creative juggler who has made a heap of interesting videos on YouTube. In this video, however, he puts down his juggling clubs (or in this case, duct tapes one to the wall behind him) and passionately urges young jugglers to do something different. It’s a bold challenge, one that I hope the juggling community takes to heart.

Three-Up Pirouette: You Foul Temptress!!

3up1.jpg3up2.jpg3up3.jpg3up4.jpg3up5.jpg

There’s something about this trick! I’m getting pretty good with 5 clubs but I can’t seem to stick this three club standard! There must be some skill I’m lacking. Or maybe it’s an inner ear thing with all that spinning around. Somehow, despite my years of trying, I can only land this one every once in a while. I’d love to put it in the show. I’d love to be able to land it every time. BUT I CAN’T!! Yaaaaaaarrg!

If you’d like to see the trick I’m talking about click here (yes, even this little kid can do it!!!) or for a goofier example click here.
