Michael Moschen at NYU
Michael Moschen has always propped up the performance-art edge of the juggling subculture. To him, juggling is art. Consequently his performances are less show and more art class.
This was the case at his recent appearance at New York University’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. An article in the Wall Street Journal aptly portrays Moschen’s presentation as half lecture, half demonstration, and fully entertaining and inspiring.
Even though Moschen’s view of juggling can often be dismissed as a bit pretentious–he opened his performance at NYU saying, “Hello . . . I want to make new things.”–you can’t deny that his passion for art has led him to create some of the most innovative performances that have graced the juggling stage.

Dubé has recently stepped it up in the internet department . . . and we love it!
A few juggling equipment companies have started a blog or posted some videos, but Dubé has decided to attack the internet on all fronts. Last week the great people at Dubé sent out an email officially introducing the world to their new Facebook page, YouTube channel, blog, and Twitter feed.
Since juggling is such a collaborative art form, it makes sense that juggling and the internet would go together. We’re proud of Dubé for committing to meet jugglers in all of these social media platforms.
Dubé has been supplying jugglers with equipment and training materials since the mid ’70’s and have always seemed to stay at the forefront of innovation, quality, and professionalism. This big step into the Web 2.0 world continues that legacy of leadership we have come to expect from them.
Here’s a video recently posted on the Dubé YouTube channel. It’s an introduction to the world of cigar box manipulation.

Here’s a heartwarming tale of a street performing juggler and a cat. It won the ASIFA Award of Excellence 2009 in the Best Professional Film category.
Enjoy!
Juggling Vaudeville Posters
We’re always on the lookout for good juggling paraphernalia. You know; t-shirts, stickers, posters, bags . . . anything that helps you declare that you’re a member of the Juggling Subculture.
Recently we stumbled upon some great old timey juggling Vaudeville posters on Zazzle.com.
These would be a great addition to any jugglers practice room, office, dorm room wall, or anywhere.
Also, if you like juggling posters, check out these posters that we commissioned from the famous Hatch Show Print in Nashville, TN.

Juggling in Afghanistan
Check out this picture submitted by David Elmore to the recent Why Afghanistan Matters photo contest:

What you see is Matthew McKinney, of the 38th Division, showing local children how to juggle during a visit to Lower Kajakan Village in the Shinwari District of Afghanistan.
It is great to see how some simple juggling can bridge major cultural gaps even during tumultuous times.
