David DiMuzion: Singing Juggler

To celebrate the beginning of America’s Got Talent season here’s an interesting audition video from David DiMuzio.

David is the self-proclaimed world’s greatest singing juggler. We can’t think of anyone to challenge the title, so we say, way to go David!

Here’s hoping the producers enjoyed David’s audition, and that we’ll see him on the show sometime soon.

Juggling Machines

Cute little toy, but we’re not afraid of juggling machines replacing us any time soon!

Dr. Don Rapp’s “This is the House that Jack Built”

Dr. Don Rapp has been juggling since 1940. He’s also been an educator for most of his life. Naturally, juggling has become a major part of his teaching repertoire.

Here he is performing one of his classic routines:

This article explains how Dr. Rapp uses juggling to teach kids about the connection between body and mind . . .

. . . but we were more intrigued by his simple, charming routine.

So often, observing the Juggling Subculture on the internet makes us feel inferior. So many great jugglers show off amazing routines with tricks it would take us lifetimes to learn.

Through this video the good doctor reminds us that a juggling routine doesn’t have to be packed with piourettes, or piled with props in order to bring a smile to people’s faces.

Charlie McDonnell Accepts a Juggling Challenge

Charlie McDonnell is the most subscribed YouTuber in the United Kingdom. According to the about page on his video blog, he has “amassed over 40 million total video views.”

Earlier this month Charlie answered a challenge to learn how to juggle.

Notice at the beginning Charlie refers to juggling as a useless skill. Then, by day 8, he’s calling for a YouTube juggling revolution.

We think that’s an awesome progression.

We’ll definitely throw our full support behind any other video bloggers that want to dazzle their audiences by taking a step into the juggling subculture.

“The Juggler” Sketch by Michel Vandegaer

Michel Vandegaer is an artist who suggests viewing his sketches, “with vague sleepy eyes, instead of looking for nice details ’cause there aren’t any.”

Sleepily check out this sketch he simply calls “The Juggler”.

We like quite a few things about the juggler in this sketch:

  1. He’s clearly street performing
  2. He’s got a great smile on his face
  3. He’s owning that 5-club cascade (not often represented in fine art!)

Overall, we appreciate the way Vandegaer truly expresses the joy of juggling in this simple sketch.

Justin Bieber Juggles in Japan

You know we love it when the Juggling Subculture and pop culture collide.

Apparently, while touring Japan to promote his new album, Justin Bieber took the opportunity to show off yet another of his skills.

As entertainmentwise.com reports;

Justin showed off his skill using two clubs, then he swiftly moved onto three, drawing gasps from the audience, when he didn’t drop them.

Reportedly, he kept a solid cascade going for about 7 seconds. Pretty good for your average tween idol!

We haven’t found video yet, but we will post it as soon as it surfaces.

Venice Beach Artists

Another great tribute to often overlooked street performers!

Venice Beach Artists is a blog forged by Nowhere Man, one of the performers frequently found on the sandy sidewalk himself. Nowhere Man has begun the task of cataloging the menagerie of unique characters along this classic Los Angeles boardwalk.

Rick the Juggler, one of the performers featured on Venice Beach Artists, has been juggling at Venice Beach for over four years.

Nowhere Man treats him, and each of his subjects (from the members of the Hare Krishna Cultural Center to Tony B. Concious the self-proclaimed “Ghetto Van-Go”), with a refreshing level of honor and respect.
